I actually missed three quizzes because I don't ever think about going on the computer. This class was a horrible choice for me personally,it doesn't suit my learning style at all. Which set me up for a rough time. MY Opinions i feel like i was graded on accuracy on some of the foarms that were opinion based. only 46 out of 65 student completed survey for extra credit... and then complain about the lack of extra credit opportunities Forums I did like the idea of online forums because you were able to take time to figure out what you wanted to say instead of being put on the spot in class. 1 I enjoyed the forums. its a way to debate with other students and see different views in a more passive manor. I think putting assignments online was a very good idea. It gave students the opportunity to put out there opinions in a way that may be easier for those who aren't comfortable with speaking in class. It also gave us a chance to do each assignment on our own time, which was very much appreciated by me and probably many other students. being shy myself, I found it nice to have a forum I could post comments on as opposed to speaking in class. I really did not enjoy the fourms, I found it hard to say enough things to get enough points to get a good grade. 1 I somewhat enjoyed the forums but I can also understand why many students (including myself, at times) didn't participate fully in the forums. Some of the questions were tough and the ones focusing on political cartoons were a little difficult to write a thoughtful analysis on. Some forums, for me, were hard to write thoughtful things because either I did not have an opinion or couldn't relate to the topic. It was hard for me to write what I really wanted on the forums as they were some pretty touchy subjects. I didn't want to get in an online writing war. CHECK YOUR TECH CONNECTION My only problem is that my computer couldn't use what you had the videos under. Quizzes SOMEONE GETS IT I actually tended to rely on the quizzes as my primary source for remembering information, and if time allowed it, I would take the quizzes as many times as I could until I felt comfortable answering the questions the test was throwing at me. So, in two ways they helped my class grade: in general, getting the points for them and also they helped me study for exams and do better as a result. YES.I really liked the design of the class material, online quizzes taken at home have many advantages, no test anxiety and plenty of review material. Online POLLS Opinion polls are super quick and very interesting to look at. I wish we did more of those throughout the term. it did seem like the poll portion disappeared after week 3 though so maybe an online poll per week would be nice. The Textbook I had a lot of fun being in this class, I think the instructor did a great job with what we read in the textbooks and bringing that into class discussions he actually refered to the book. I have had some teachers that never even crack open a book. I felt I got my moneys worth. He stuck to the material. Some teachers have you buy a book and then never use it in class, but Mr. Escobar did well in making sure the students knew the material from the book. 1 I felt that the instructor incorporated the textbook into the course at a perfect balance. Book on Tape forgot about it, would have used it tech problems - couldn't get mp3 file to work wanted them on CD for car speed/playback issues Audacity Bookstore LIBERTY,EQUALITY,POWER:COMPACT ED.
