Hello all,
It was a pleasure to meet with you this week in our first two class periods.  Believe it or not, 10% of the term is already over.

This is my first "weekly wrap up" email to everyone.  In the future, I'll try to keep them brief and to the point.  This one is a little longer.  Please read it all, as it contains information which will have an impact on your grade in this course.

The Chapter 10 quiz is due tomorrow, Friday, by 5pm.  Take the quiz (and submit it) as many times as necessary to earn a score of 10 points or more by the deadline to earn your 1% quiz grade score.

REMEMBER ALSO, that the Chapter 11 quiz is due MONDAY, January 11, by 5pm, BEFORE we meet in class on Tuesday.  It does not matter that I did not complete the Chapter 10 lecture in class this week.  I will complete it on Tuesday and will also begin Chapter 11 material.

I may have forgotten to mention to the morning class that I have the chapters of the textbook available to you "on tape"... actually in .mp3 format.  You can listen to them on your computer or mp3 player.  If interested, Moodle message me and say "I'd like the audiobook" and I'll reply with the required links.

You have another Moodle poll, on religion, to complete before class on Tuesday, by 10am.  Again, these are the easiest participation points you can earn in this class.  So please "click it". :-)

Finally, you have noticed by now that I use a number of video clips in the classroom.  Each week, there will be an important clip or two that does not get shown in class due to lack of time.  Thank goodness for the internet and this hybrid class.  If you recall, I asked you to watch a sample clip on the internet before the term began.  I assume that everyone did that.  I have not heard of anyone having problems, which is wonderful.  If you do have issues, try a friends computer, ask the student help desk (SHeD@lanecc.edu) for help, or even try using an LCC computer.  The "tech fee" you were charged gives you access campus computers and our fast internet connection.  (But in these labs, be sure to bring your own headphones, in case none are provided for you.)  

The Chapter 10 video clip you'll watch before next Tuesday is on the Nat Turner Slave Rebellion.  Seven minutes long, you'll see and hear from REAL DESCENDANTS of that historical event.  Be sure to take notes.  You can watch it as many times as you'd like.

Finally, remember that in order to receive a full tuition refund, you must drop any LCC class before the end of the first week (I believe the deadline is Sunday at midnight).
