(I hope that doesn't sound too harsh.)   The later deadline was absolutely a blessing for me.  My brain works best in the late afternoons and evenings, so that is when I do the bulk of my homework and studying.  The 9 p.m. deadline was a good fit for me, most times. 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Extremely Important   I felt the textbook put WAY too much detail into some of the trivial facts that were merely stepping stones for more major events.  I felt like I was reading an encyclopedia sometimes. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right   I think that would be a good thing, since it would allow each student to view them and take notes at their own pace. 2 : B+, B, or B- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. (note: no forums)   As mentioned above, I prefer the face-to-face debates and discussions, even though I know some of  the students prefer the forums. 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 2 1 2 2 2 1 2 None. The deadline was good for me. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I thought the textbook was a relitively easy read, compared to textbooks I have had in the past. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I think that you should definitely show some in class time still, but I think that it would not be a bad idea to put some on moodle. 1 : A or A- 2 : 2-3 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 5478 21/11/2010 16:34:41 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 1 3 : 3-4 times a week 1 2 : Average 0 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Easy 2 : Somewhat Important I think this is an effective way of teaching and learning. That is, if you actually take the time to do them, because it does help you. I like the time. In my opinion, both forums and quizzes should be due on the same day. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Yes 2 : Just right maybe a little bit of both. 2 : B+, B, or B- 5 : 5 or more hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. The quizzes provide important study topics for the midterm and final, and the polls were so easy that it is surprising that some people did not participate The 9 pm deadline was perfect for me, I am a full time student and I also have a job, this later deadline allowed me to get my work in on time. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I felt that the textbook was incorporated heavily in every class, and that it was very important to read the chapters in order to understand the class. However I found the textbook a little boring, The classes were much more exciting and interesting than the textbook. 2 : No 2 : Just right I think the video clips supported the structure of the class. The videos helped the flow of the chapter and information being provided. I would find it hard to watch these videos on my own and take away the same understanding of them if I had watched them outside of class. 1 : A or A- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) Hybrid courses are nice because you still get the social interaction and dedicated time to a class that you don't get with online classes. It also allows shorter time in class which is perfect if you are working and going to school. It is also easier to participate in class discussions, it allows everyone to give their input on the topic. 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 Overall I found this class to be a perfect match for me. History has never interested me, but the way this course is designed is helpful in keeping my attention. The use of multiple sources such as video clips, lectures, textbook, discussions, and comedy helped me grasp concepts and retain information. 5482 21/11/2010 20:27:07 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 0 5 : 5 or more times a week 1 3 : Slow 0 2 : Somewhat Important 2 : Easy 1 : Extremely Important I liked it. From what I have seen more were probably lazy. Joe has given us extreme advanced notice for the expectations of his class and everyone had every oppurtunity to do the quizzes and forums and signed up for a hybrid class to do so. I feel that it worked well and enjoyed the ability to work from home. Unfortunately I think what needs to be kept in mind is I am 28 and fromer military most of these students are 18 - 20 there drive to accomplish a task given to them is probably slightly smaller than mine which is a big factor in my opinion I am work towards a goal and have a family I cannot waste time trying to have a colleg experience this is my job and to them this is still school. did not matter a whole lot if I had the ability to I had it done a week before the deadline. 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Somewhat Important I hate reading so it was a little dry but useful. and worth it for the price. 1 : Yes 1 : Too many videos great idea for me personally but as you have said most people did not do the online portion so it might be best to keep it in the class or it might be best for those students to just do a regular course and not a hybrid.  1 : A or A- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. (note: no forums) The only thing that would have been nice is the ability to have used at least 1 5x7 not card on the finals. you know just for the little stuff that you could not always remember. There is a lot of info to go through. 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 2 2 1 2 2 1 2 None Great Job! I think the time worked perfectly!  On Mondays I get home at about 5:30 sometimes as late as 8:00, so the deadline was perfect for those weeks that I waited until the last minute.  The suggestion I would have would be the fact that the midterm had to be taken either Friday, Saturday, or Monday.  This did not work well with my schedule.  I had to get off work early on Friday to come and take the test.  Saturday I was going to be out of town and Monday there would have been no possible way for me to get off early because I work anywhere 10-13 hrs on Mondays.  Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days that I am on campus, plus I live in Springfield out in the Thurston area, so it is an inconvenience to come to campus another day out of the week. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important Just right.  I was thrilled to find out that the book is used for classes 202 and 203 as well. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right Uh, okay.  I think the downfall is that in class I pay attention 100%, but if I was made to watch the videos on my own I would have other distractions. 2 : B+, B, or B- 3 : 3-4 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 Just what I said about the days allowed to take the Midterm.  If the Final Exam days are the same as the Midterm, then I would suggest opening a couple days on those too.  Even just opening Thursday would have worked, because I could have taken the Midterm after class that Thursday. 5495 22/11/2010 13:16:27 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 1 1 4 : 4-5 times a week 0 0 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Very Easy I noticed while using my friend's computer that moodle is a much higher functioning program on a mac. I think the anouncements would have been :extremely important"" instead of ""somewhat important"" if I had missed any classes. I really like this format. 2 : Somewhat Important The quizzes were certainly a ""gift,"" and I think it's pretty ridiculous that they hurt people. I think the forum was probably harder for some (it certainly looked like they had trouble with it), but I thought it was pretty easy too, and actually really fun. The later time helped me once or twice. No suggestions, none from me anyways. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I wish the pages were bigger and the book thinner, this thing kills space in my backpack. It was pretty dense, but no less readable than other history textbooks. It works in conjunction with what the professor talked about in letting me know what I'd be tested on. 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right This would work just fine for me, and I'd appreciate the extra lecture/discussion time. But if people are already having problems with the online section, maybe not? 1 : A or A- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) I really liked it. The online forum was my favorite part, I just wish more people had more to say. I'm taking an awful lot of classes right now, so having a less rigid schedule helped me out, too. 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 More in-class discussion. I understand the time restraints, and that that part is mostly in the online section. Nope. The quizes and such were easy grades. The change was better but for students who work and are full time students they may not get to some of their homework until late. I know that was my problem especially closer to the end of term when my work hours picked up conciderably. I don't know how this would effect your grading but maybe if you made it a midnight deadline it might work out. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I think playing them in class and having them online as a reference would be beneficial. 2 : B+, B, or B- 2 : 2-3 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 2 2 2 1 2 5514 08/12/2010 12:03:35 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 0 2 : 2-3 times a week 1 1 : Fast 0 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Very Easy 1 : Extremely Important its hard to remember to get on a lot and have conversations with people i like that the dead line was later. peope are normally busy till 5 so 9 was perfect! 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important just rght 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right great! 3 : C+, C, or C- 2 : 2-3 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. YES 9PM is a much better deadline time!  people have school and work during the week so it's hard to find the time and energy to sit down and log onto school work, 9pm gives people a chance to have a good weekend and get thier stuff done.  also people who work can more easily work around it. 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Extremely Important not at all.  there's too much stuff crammed into one reading assignment and it's hard to read with all the dates and names and jumps and ccompaisons.  it's incredibly overwhelming!!  plus it's hard to coordinate the readings with what the instructor lectures about. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right NO do both.  play them in class and put them online. 4 : D+, D, or D- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. The opinion polls take less than one min. to complete. The quizes are easy enough, (I did miss one as I forgot until 10min before the quiz closed and did not complete before 9:05). This part of the grade should come very easy to most students...I am not sure how this part of the grade could hurt anyone unless the student is just not a person who normally does his/her homework. I think that the 9pm deadline was great. I was in one of your classes before with the 5pm cut-off and I thought that this term the 9pm was beneficial, (Especially because on Monday's I do not get home from school/work until after 6pm and I used the Monday evening for the quiz-I know I could take sooner, but I set aside the Monday evening for History quiz). 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important Well, for the quizes it was extremely benefical to have. Also, it is nice to read ahead what the lecture is going to be about, (I am someone who needs to both read and hear the information). 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I think that it would be an okay idea. However, it is nice to see the videos in context with all of the other material being presented in class. I think that it would be nice to be able to see the videos again though on-line, (sometimes there are videos with a lot of information that I am trying to observe and it would be nice to watch again). 2 : B+, B, or B- 3 : 3-4 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) The Hybrid allows me to not be "in-class" as much, which is nice so that I do not have to pay for my son to be in daycare. However, I could definitely see how being in class longer could be beneficial, (covering all of the material for each chapter in one week-possibly not running out of time). I can see how some students would prefer to be in class longer and not have the forum; however, I feel like when I read some of the forum posts that some students obviously really enjoy posting information. 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 5564 29/11/2010 16:40:28 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 0 3 : 3-4 times a week 0 0 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Very Easy 2 : Somewhat Important I thought it was all to easy to go onto moodle, look at what was due or coming up for the class and then to complete anything that might need to be done. I think the 9PM deadline was great, it was way better then trying to worry to get everything done by 5 the little extra time was very greatful. 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I would have really liked and enjoyed that. i feel that it would have been better, that way you could focus more on the people and events and maybe throw in videos in class to enhance some points. 3 : C+, C, or C- 2 : 2-3 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. Yes it did. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I liked the book for the most part. The chapters squished things together a little to easily though and they should have separated some material. 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right I don't think this is a good idea. The video's in class were a great idea, and it would be easy for students to pass by the videos and not watch them if they were offered to us online. 4 : D+, D, or D- 2 : 2-3 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. I would like to say that so far, in the past year and a half of college I have attended, I really am pleased with your online portion of this class. Everything was well organized and spot on with your daily lectures! Also I really have enjoyed your class! 1 : Extremely Important I personally love the fact that you include these grading "gifts" in your course. I think that it is a great way to learn and especially a great way to help study for exams. It really helped to see the types of questions you use for your tests. I personally liked the quizzes, because I was able to take them as many times as I wanted! I was also able to print them out to use along side my study guides. I actually like the later deadlines. Often times I would take a quiz earlier in the day/week, but only have a chance to take it one time. I have a job alongside attending school full time, and the later deadline allowed me to be able to come home and have just enough time to retake a quiz or post one last response on the forum. I would say this is a lot better then having an earlier deadline. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I really felt like reading the text book is how I have been able to pull out A's on my tests. I am not a big reader at all, expecially when it comes to text books, but I started highlighting as I read to help me comprehend a little better. I really do believe that this text book pushed me into recieving the good grade I currently hold. I would 100% recomend any one in this course to read every chapter, even if you fall behind a week. It does take a while to get through it, but it is so worth the grade to just sit down and finish each chapter. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I do not think that it is a great Idea to make it a requirement. I think that it would possibly be an awesome study tool for students to use to get some more perspective on a certain topic. If you were to make it a requirement, half the students wouldn't do it, and the other half would feel like the course should be worth more credit. I definitely would feel like it should be considered a 5 credit course if you increased the online portion. Many of us are full time students holding full time jobs and often times have children. I would be even more stressed if more material was added to this course! 1 : A or A- 5 : 5 or more hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) A tradition style class seems way too long. I always find it hard to focus through a tough class when you are sitting for more then an hour and twenty minutes. Even though the hybrid is shorter, I would say that there is definitely more work involved. I like this though, because I learn better when a class is more hands on discussions (the forum). I really think the hybrid class is great! 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 1 Yes. The first week in the third forum. It was the one where we had to read that nine page opinion on conservative vs radical revolution. I think that just having that 9 page reading was too hard to form a good bias and discussion. I had a really hard time focusing my point, because the authors of those small articals were hard to follow in my opinion. I think if you were to add a short video clip or another form of reading along side the one we had, it might make for better conversation and discussions. I have never enjoyed history and have always stuggled, but you are a great professor and I have really enjoyed your class! You, in a sense, make history fun and interesting to learn about! :) 5602 29/11/2010 17:45:15 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 1 3 : 3-4 times a week 1 2 : Average 0 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Very Easy I really wish my semester hadn't been so crazy with balancing 2 jobs and school full time. I was one of the ones who thought I would make it out of this class with an A but am lucky if I pass it with a C! The class is a good class to take, but you definately need to have the time and determination to do well in the class! 1 : Extremely Important When the students do the quizzes, instead of them just getting a point for getting a 50% or better, I think that having the quiz count for the grade they get will make the students be more responsible for their grade. They will actually have to study the material and do well which I think will have the class grades be more acurate. I think that the deadline needs to be midnight. I personally worked 2 jobs this term, and almost everynight I worked til 9:30, so meeting the 9pm deadline was a severe challenge. That was when I was grateful to have the point for getting a 50% or better. If the deadline would be 11:55 or midnight, I think the chances of the students getting it done would increase as well. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I didn't like the textbook personally. I absolutely HATE reading, and having to read 40+ pages a night was too much for me so I stopped. I will however find the textbook more useful once we move on into 202, etc... 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I liked having the time to discuss the videos in class 3 : C+, C, or C- 3 : 3-4 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. (note: no forums) I think that this class should be longer, just because there is SO much material. There were many times when I really needed to go to the bathroom during class but felt that if I did I would miss some valuable information. I think that having an opprotuinty IN class where we can spend some time discussing the materials would be EXTREMELY benificial, instead of lecture from start to finish. 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 5603 29/11/2010 17:53:27 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 1 0 2 : 2-3 times a week 0 0 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Very Easy 1 : Extremely Important For me, since this is my first year in  college, and in an online type class I feel people honestly forgot?? These were simply caused by a mac/pc communication error, and were resolved by updating plugins. 1 : Extremely Important I think students who did not complete the "gift" assignments did not realize the importance of the assignments concerning their grade. However, this was discussed at great length in class, and therefore is an issue with the student, not with the instructor. Therefore, the student deserves the blow to the grade, because of their own inattention to its overall importance. The change was very useful for me in terms of the quizzes and forums. However, with concern to the forums in particular, the Saturday deadline was problematic for me. This might be because I was in another hybrid class this term as well, but I think extending forum deadlines to Sunday night, rather than Saturday, would be very helpful. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important I was satisfied with the integration of the text within the class, and the quality of the information in the book. I did find the book clunky to read in some areas, and was even confused by wording at times. However, the confusion was always cleared up when the material was discussed in class. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I enjoy being able to immediately discuss the clips in class, as well as learn the relevancy of some clips to the current material currently being discussed. I had some problems accessing the videos for the forum as well. 2 : B+, B, or B- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. (note: no forums) The forums were the most cumbersome for me in terms of the class. I was able to do them, but sometimes I had trouble meeting deadlines or accessing materials for the forum topic. I think this was partially because I was enrolled in another hybrid class as well this term. I think it will be easier next term, as I am only enrolled in next class in the sequence as a hybrid. 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 1 I would only recommend the extended deadline on the forums. The instructor has to make the choice whether to bring up deadline dates more frequently or let the unmotivated students drop as the term proceeds. I would recommend a deadline of midnight or 11:55 p.m. This is a community college and many people have very busy lives away from school. Not much of an excuse, but later deadlines mean more students completing assignments. 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Somewhat Important The instructor focused an adequate amount of the class on the textbook. However, I found the reading to be a bit plain and dry. It had excellent information, but some was a bit bias and the format of the reading did not make the text enjoyable. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right I would continue to incorporate them into the class, but let the students how important the topic of the video is and explain the reasoning behind showing so many video clips during the term. 2 : B+, B, or B- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 Better explanation of the Revolutionary War. I don't get off work until late and have missed two quizzes just due to time constraints (i do realize they're available for days, but...), so 9pm (or Midnight!) is great. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important perfect 2 : No 2 : Just right Certain videos help to clarify what you mean, and also add some pizazz to what could otherwise be a ""dry"" class, such as the cartoons, or comedians...The longer- more strictly informative ones could be put online. 2 : B+, B, or B- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) As for the textbook question...the difference in price is my main concern, it was quite a relief not to spend $500 on books this term. I think that I probably learn more in class than I do in forums, though I enjoy those as well, so adding half an hour to classes seems like a good idea. 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 2 1 1 2 2 2 2 As I mentioned above, I think it would be a good idea to move deadlines to midnight. Grading is done automatically, so it doesn't mandate you being up that late, and for those night owls among us, it would give us a little bit more flexibility in completing quizzes and the like. In short, there is no reason not to, and it would improve student scores. Sometime you come down pretty hard on one side or the other of controversial issues. I'm not saying that you are wrong, but you should probably qualify your conclusions with a little bit more uncertainty.. 6342 02/12/2010 21:32:24 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 1 4 : 4-5 times a week 1 1 : Fast 1 1 : Extremely Important 3 : Not Very Important 1 : Very Easy 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Somewhat Important 3 : Not Very Important The book was just dry, It was difficult to read a lot of the time. 1 : Yes 2 : Just right 6 : Pass 3 : 3-4 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) 1 : I Would Highly Recommend This Course 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 6371 03/12/2010 01:56:17 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 1 1 : 1-2 times a week 0 0 4 : Useless 1 : Very Easy 1 : Extremely Important Some are just lazy. If they so choose not to use that kindness and mercy you bestow upon us then that is their problem. I personally appreciated it and I\'m sure anyone who took this class or their grade seriously did as well. :) It worked very well for me since if I needed it I had that much longer to read the chapter. (geez they could be long!) 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Extremely Important I felt it was good but some chapters were heavy on names that would lead me to getting confused or frustrated, other small details they may have gone overboard with too. I go to work immediatly after classes, and work until 9pm, so if I forgot to take a quiz(which happened often) i would not be able to run home after work and take it before the time limit ended. I think i 10pm, or midnight closing time would help students out a great deal! 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important the textbook had great information, but the reading was very dry and emotionless, many times it took me all week to finally get through the required reading material. 1 : Yes 1 : Too many videos I would like to see them posted so i could watch them again outside of class, or catch them if i was unable to attend class. 3 : C+, C, or C- 4 : 4-5 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. I think it was a good idea to push it to 9pm, but if your gonna go to 9pm I think you might as well finish out the day(12am or 11:55pm deadline). I work till 9:30pm most nights so that deadline extension had little to no benefit for me. 2 : Somewhat Important 3 : Not Very Important Satisfied. 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right I think that they should be posted online, but still watched in class. If there is a way to only have the videos viewable by the students who attended class or contacted you about their absence, that would be the best option. I wished I could watch quite a few of the videos again. 2 : B+, B, or B- 1 : 1-2 hours a week 1 : Hybrid: This 4 credit class, exactly as you have experienced it (80 minute classes, twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, online forums, two exams) I think that the forums are a terrible assignment. I understand that you need to have some kind of online assignment, but good grief, the forums are just horrible, nobody wants other people to read there stuff and you end up with a few arrogant kids that dominate the whole forum. Plus you have students who write stuff that it just terrible and nobody responds to, is that not a waste of time for the person who wrote it? and the students who took the time to read it? 2 : I Would Recommend This Course 1 1 2 2 2 2 2 Try really hard to come up with a better online assignment than forums. Again, the forums are terrible. I want to say that I did just fine on the forum scoring and I don\'t mind listening and writing my response, what I hate is that I have to read through other peoples material, most of it is just forced or paraphrasing some other person work. The forums need to be done away with. 6663 07/12/2010 20:26:31 HST 201: History of United States F10 (Escobar META 21371 21372) Anonymous 0 0 2 : 2-3 times a week 1 2 : Average 0 1 : Extremely Important 2 : Easy 1 : Extremely Important I tried to complete all the computer quizzes, but a few times I just forgot that I hadn't done them and by the time I realized that it was too late. I think that a reminder e-mail would help, but ultimately it's the student's responsibility to remember to take the quiz. The 9pm deadline helped me out a few times. There were days where I couldn't get to a computer until around 7 or 8 at night. 2 : Somewhat Important 1 : Extremely Important 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right I think it would be an okay idea, but if students don't complete other online assignments then they won't watch the videos either. 2 : B+, B, or B- 1 : 1-2 hours a week 2 : Traditional: A 4 credit class with 110 minute classes twice a week, class lecture/video, online computer quizzes, required attendance, two exams. And the only computer I have is one at home and I still live with my family so it was really hard getting a moment of quite time to get my stuff done. Next time around, I would prefer to have my own laptop or maybe just make a set time to go into the library and get my stuff done. I myself missed a few of the deadlines online and it made me want to kick myself in the butt lol I agree that 9 is a good time. Being a college student balancing school and work..sometimes it gets really hard. I'd find myself getting off work at 7 and then having to go home and complete a quiz or a post on a forum, which frustrated me because I like to give myself time to get things done. Next time, I definitely need to make sure I balance school, work and my time a lot better. 1 : Extremely Important 1 : Extremely Important The textbook was definitely worth my money. I really liked the way it was written. It was a pretty easy, enjoyable read. BUT..I felt like there was so much reading to do with each chapter and only parts of it were important to know for quizzes/midterm/final so it got kind of hard having to obtain all the information when only some of it was important for the class. 3 : I'm not sure 2 : Just right Good idea.
